Strategic Partner
Erika West
Erika is the founder of West Strategies, a strategy consultancy for advocacy and philanthropic leaders with equity and justice missions. Drawing on a background in electoral politics, policy, and advocacy, Erika clarifies complex issues and aligns missions with bold, relevant action plans that win.
Prior to founding West Strategies, Erika spent 10 years strategizing with social change leaders across movements and sectors, first as a principal at the Raben Group, a Washington, DC–based public affairs firm, and then independently with executives in philanthropy focused on democracy, economic justice, and public education.
Immediately prior to Raben, Erika served as Political Director at NARAL Pro-Choice America, directing the federal PAC, c4 operations, ballot measure strategies, and messaging. Her key achievements include a partnership with Reproductive Justice leaders that brought funding to their winning ballot measure strategies, and the design of groundbreaking messaging research on support for abortion legality.
In her early career, Erika served as legislative staff for U.S. Representative John Conyers, Jr. (MI), and worked in numerous state and federal electoral campaigns, including with the Michigan Democratic Coordinated Campaign and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, where she advised the finance operations of 15 frontline incumbents and candidates from the western states.
Erika is a graduate of Howard University and George Washington University's Graduate School of Political Management. She resides in Maryland, outside of Washington, DC.
